Does anyone know something that's good for dogs that are allergic to grass pollen?

My dog seems to be alergic to grass pollen and chews on her paws all sommer long because it iches so much . I've tried a few things like giveing her brewer yeast but I not sure if it is working.I would prefer something that is a natural product or over the counter .

sounds more like a possible food allergy.I would think grass would cause your dog to itch in more places than just the paws.Paw chewing and licking is a common sign of food allergy's.
Reply:I suggest you keep the benadryl in stock also.My dog also has the allergies and it is hard to control. It seems that the oatmeal bath shampoo helps give them relief as well as the benadryl. If it gets raw and open sores you will need to go to the vet and get her a shot just like us humans. My boxer gets it on paws and jowl.I have tried it all and the best thing is the benadryl.
Reply:My dog seems to do the same thing and generally after eatting something that is not common for their diet. I notice though it only happens a few times a day. Generally a dog bites too, just to feel themselves. If perhaps though the dog does it way too much I would go to the vet and ask what can be done to curb the situation as well as asking to have a test to determine if it allergies, mites or mold spores in your home, many a times it is just dry skin from atmospheric changes. If your dog developes any rashes other than the one mentioned on the paws, then you know it is a severe case and should not be ignored and taken care of immediately. Most times, the problem can subside on its own but is quite rare.
Reply:dog shoes.
Reply:Lysine. You can get it at the GNC.
Reply:Funny you should be asking this... My dachshund is having the same problem so today at 10:30 I am taking him to the vet. I ssupect like you that my dog has a allergy to grass, but i'd ask the doctor for advice.
Reply:go to your vet they will give you meds. if you can't get in right away use medical tape and tape a sock over it.
Reply:Get yourself a good EFA supplement. Omega 3 oils help alleviate itching and scratching. A cold pressed salmon oil is very good. It helped my cocker.
Reply:a gas mask tailor made for your dog
Reply:My sister-in-law has a dog that is the same way. Her vet told her to give her benadryl once a day. She uses the generic brand and it seems to work.
Reply:HAVE YOUR DOG TESTED AT YOUR VETS TO FIND OUT WHAT EXACT ALLERGEN IS CAUSING HER DISCOMFORT. THEN YOU CAN TREAT HER ACCORDINGLY. IT IS NO FUN BEING ITCHY. SOMETIMES A SPECIAL ALLERGY SERUM, THAT IS DESIGNED JUST FOR YOU PET, IS NEEDED TO ALLEVIATE HER ITCHINESS. MAYBE IT'S THE FOOD, MAYBE GRASS, MAYBE DUST MITES OR MOLDS....YOU NEED TO KNOW FOR SURE TO HELP HER BE MORE COMFORTABLE.
Reply:Keep your dog inside as much as possible!
Reply:Feed them hay.
Reply:please dont think im completly mad just try it and then decide for yourself; before you take the dog for a walk get a lid off a spray can or similar (didnt say how big or what type of dog) half fill the vessel with baby oil, yep, baby oil, place each paw in the oil for 2 or 3 seconds then walk your dog, when you get back do it again and wipe paws down with a rag, I know someone who had the same problem and it worked for them. reguards shayne Hogwartzboxers.
