How can I get a neighbor to cut down a cottonwood tree, that is ruining my pool with cotton pollen?

I have to work constanly to keep it clean and my pool pump and filter is being damaged from the cotton pollen.

How can I get a neighbor to cut down a cottonwood tree, that is ruining my pool with cotton pollen?
Well, luckily cottonwood trees let go of their fluffballs for only about a week or two every year. Keep your pool covered, and vacuum off the cover before you take it off, so the seeds/cotton doesn't get into the water.

Unfortunately, you can't blame anybody for mother nature planting trees. Even if the cottonwood tree was a couple houses over, you would still get that stuff floating into your yard.

We have a golf course behind our house, and the cottonwood trees send out the cotton every year. Our grass actually gets white for about a week! We can't do anything about it, since nobody can control what the trees do.
Reply:I'd suggest you ask him nicely if he would be willing to get the tree cut down. You may even offer to help pay for it.

If it's a good source of shade for his home he might not be too willing to get rid of it.

If the tree was there first it's not his fault that you put your pool where you did without considering the consequences of neighboring trees.

As far as I know, cottonwood "snow" season is realatively short. Cover your pool and wait til it's over.
Reply:you cant because this is an act of mother nature.

you can ask for them to trim it back some.

have you talked with them ??
Reply:Is the tree branching into ur yard or is the stuff blowing off into ur pool? I was wondering cause if the tree has branches that are on ur property than it should be fine to cut those off,i would talk to the neighbour first of course just outta respect. On the other hand, maybe buying a pool cover would be wise,i do think pools are recommended to be kept covered anyways for all kinds of reasons, this may not rectify the prob completely but it would certainly cut down on it. :)
