How do plant breeders make sure only one type of pollen is used when their flowers are pollinated?
They remove the stamens from the flower that is being cross-pollinated to prevent self-pollination. After applying the selected pollen, they cover the pollinated flower with a little sack to keep any other pollen from landing in the flower.
