Is there a window screen out there that filters out not just pollen and dirt, but smoke too?

Hello, I have seen window screens on the market that are HEPA and therefore filter out things like dirt and pollen. My problem is that come wintertime, people all around my neighborhood burn wood to heat their homes, and I am very very asthmatic. If I keep the windows closed, my room eventually fills with smoke seeping in over time. If I open them, it's worse (but better when they shut the wood stoves off).

Is there a window screen that not only filters out pollen and dirt like HEPA, but also can filter out smoke and things of that nature?

Screen, no

room air purifiers, yes
Reply:I dont believe there is, or atleast I've never heard of one.
Reply:I miss that about living in suburbia. Everyone used their fireplaces at night. That wonderful outdoor aroma of burning wood. Now living in the city all you smell is exhaust fumes. If the smell bothers you buy an ionizing air cleaner with catalytic converter and SHUT the windows.
Reply:no. set a smoke eater in front of the window.
Reply:YOU WILL NEED AN AIR PURIFIER, ONE THAT IS IONIC AND HAS A BLOWER. DO NOT BUY THE "IONIC BREEZE"--(LOOK THAT ONE UP ON THE FED TRADE COMMISSION WEB SITE). ON THIS QUESTION, I WILL RECOMMEND YOU GO TO THE LIBRARY AND SEE IF THE CONSUMER REPORT HAS RUN ANY TESTS ON THEM. I DON'T WANT TO GIVE YOU ANY BAD INFORMATION AND THE ONLY ONES I HAVE USED ARE FOR CENTRAL UNITS. I THINK EASE OF CLEANING IS VERY IMPORTANT. THEY ARE EXPENSIVE-I THINK THE MARKUP ON THEM IS TOO HIGH. IT MAY EVEN BE THAT THE SMOKE PARTICLES YOU ARE SMELLING ARE NOT REMOVABLE BY SOME OF THESE AIR PURIFIERS. IDEAL WOULD BE TO GET ONE TO TEST-AND THEN BUY IT IF IT IS GOOD/WORTH IT.
Reply:Geez i wanna live where you do. Here's the screen...we trade places in winter months
Reply:Yes, it's glass. Nothing that would filter everything out would let air in,at least anything you could afford. Might as well keep th windows closed. Or wear a good face mask like those used in spray painting autos.
Reply:there are hepa filters BUT NOT for windows... they are filters for the air in rooms in general... and they need power to operate
